Emergency Exits - the Need.

Why do you need to plan for an emergency exit?

The time to plan for a problem is before that problem pops up. Pretty basic isn't it? You might be surprised how many people don't though. How many people don't even have a savings account for emergencies that pop up occassionaly? How many don't have even a rudimentary first aid kit in their home? How many people don't have a spare tire or jack in their vehicle? Hey, now days you only need to pick up the phone and make a call, help will be there shortly. Correct? Or is it? What happens when if a vehicle carrying crates of nails through town leaves a trail? How fast do you think help will arrive when you call for a tow truck, only to be told you're now 200th in line because everybody else has a flat tire right now? Sad thing is, few people think that far ahead.

OK, we know things happen. What kind of things could mean needing to relocate fast?
  • Well, how about divorce? A very common thing. You've worked your whole life, even signed a pre nup. The judge is a judicial activist though and does not rule by what the law says, but by what he thinks it should say. Think it couldn't happen to you? Think again. Most people to whom it does happen thought so to, until it did. Think you have rights anymore? When the judicial system throws out the law, and substitutes it's own agenda, there can be no justice.

  • I have a sister who was plowed into on the road. The skid marks clearly show that the car ran off the road in order to hit her, by yards. The court ruled against her because the police ignored the skid marks and declared it was her fault. How often does this happen? More often than you think. Even if the police are not corrupt, and a lot of them are it would seem, they make mistakes. Need a mistake on their part to cost you everything?

  • A fishing boat in Kodiak Alaska was seized by DEA and sold off. The crime? A crew member was caught taking a pipe on board with some residue in it of something not legal for him to have. The captain was not aware of it, nor the owner. They had no knowlege of it and would have thrown the crew member off if they had. The US government didn't care. It also says that in order to get back anything seized in such a fashion, you need to sue for it, and in order to get permission to do that(think about that for a second, you need permission to sue them), you first need to post a bond big enough to pay back government expensises in case you lose. Usually this means posting a bond worth more than the seized property itself. This has happened with real estate, boats, planes, and anything else imaginable. They almost never loose. In fact, the agency that makes the seizure gets to keep the money raised in such fashion, giving them incentive to do it more often.

  • One of the least talked of reasons, but perhaps the best, is your own government. Governents around the globe have been grabbing more and more power. They have been stripping away more and more rights. What happens if the government you are currently under decideds to confiscate all wealth from all it's citizens? It feels it can do a better job of running the economy than ordinary citizens, so it just takes things. This has happened many many times in the past. Remember the communist take over in Russia? The UK government still owns amost all the infrastructure such as oil wells, gas, heavy manufactuing, etc. What happened in places such as Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Arab world's oil production. Think it can't happen to you? Oh I get it, you live in the good ol US of A. It's unconstitutional right? Wake up and smell the cow chips my friend. The US government just forced creditors of Chrysler to accept pennies on the Dollar. They had their "rights" granted by the Constitution to their property. In this case they loaned money to Chrysler with the assets of the company as collateral. This means that if they had defaulted, the assets get sold off to repay the debt. The President appointed a man, who forced them to accept a small pittance instead. He did not care what the law said. In fact, he was appointed in such a way as to disregard the law: "just make it happen, we don't care how". That's what he did. And pensions lost money because of it. Even the government of the US is starting to act as if it has dictitorial powers, and does not need to follow the law. It has even gone so far as to print off more money to buy banks, car manufacturers, and more. When it gets to owning enough the economy, it can dictate it's own terms, and those terms might be to take everything from everybody who has more than $2 in their bank account. Think it won't? Stick around, you'll see soon enough.

  • Then of course there are just the crazies. You remember them? They think because you stopped to help them with a flat tire and the engine blew up, it's your fault. You happen to run a type of business that they think is an afront to the human race, so they try and shoot you, or burn the business down around your ears. Maybe your last name begins with the right before their own, so you must be eliminated so that they can move up the line at chow. Maybe they are part of the mob, and think you owe them money for some reason. Who knows. I'm not sure if they even do themselves. But for some reason or other, they have it in for you. It can get rather fun trying to stay alive with a loon out to kill you. Think your government will protect you? It will say something along the lines of, if they start anything give us a call. Or they might even issue a restraining order against them. How may criminals disregard restraining orders each year already? All it is is a piece of paper. Criminals don't care what the law says, that's whey they are criminals. Think a crazy person cares any more than they do? They might not even understand if they are far gone enough. Maybe they punish the person after they kill you, or maybe they don't, How many murders go unsolved each year? How many of them do they give up trying to prosicute for "lack of evidence", or it get's tossed out on a technicality? Even if they managed to convict, 18 months later they are out on good behavior, but they don't let you back out of the cemetary do they?

  • Or maybe there is some huge disaster where you live. Maybe a new volcano erupted. You live on an island nation where that could happen, or a tsunami perhaps? Perhaps unusual rainfall caused a flood. How many of you live in places like a rain forest? Some of you live in countries where war or invasion is always a threat. When the US govenment wanted to test it's newet toy, the H bomb, it simply threw the native people of Bikini Atoll off their island. Think things can't happen still?

  • Did you know that even in the "Land of the free" it is illegal to defend yourself against an attacker in some areas? In the state of Washington for instance, if 10 men, 6ft tall, 300 lbs of pure muscle, experts in the martial arts, all suround you bent on harming you, if they have no visible weapons and you pull out a knife to defend yourself and hurt one of them, you go to prison, not them. That's right. Contact the state of Washington if you don't believe it. I have also been informed that in some places such as California, if you have had any kind of martial arts instructions, or military training, and those same men attack you, and you hit one of them and hurt them, you go to prison. Insane isn't it? If you defend yourself, you better have an excape planned, because if they catch you, you do the time. How often do people get attacked where you live? Even if it's as simple as a mugging?

Life is not fair. Anybody who thinks it is is deluded. There are many, many things that can go wrong in life. To say that it can't happen here is to stick your head in the sand and hope it goes away. It almost never does. You need to be wise and watch out for trouble, and be prepared in case it comes looking for you.
